RETURNING Giants star Chris Thorman is a world record holder - and that's official!

The inspirational 24-year-old half-back has had to wait over two years for his quickfire hat trick at Doncaster to be ratified as the fastest scored in professional rugby league.

But those three tries scored in the opening seven minutes of the 45-30 Buddies Cup semi-final success on Sunday, May 19, 2002 are now officially recorded in the new Guinness Book of World Records.

The exploits of Thorman, who has re-signed for the Giants from top Australian club Parramatta, have been listed in the 2005 record's book.

Also included are the two world records set by Giants Scholarship pupil Richard Lopag - 169 tries in a season and 43 hat tricks in a campaign.

And Giants football manager Stuart Sheard is delighted that two players from the club feature in such a popular publication.

"This sort of exposure is fantastic for the Giants," he said.
