GIANTS officials are awaiting confirmation from the Rugby Football League over when they must stage their re-arranged Super League home fixture against Hull FC.

The match was originally due to be played at the McAlpine Stadium on Sunday, September 5.

But that will now be the date for the Town v Hull City game which has been moved from the Saturday to Sunday on the insistence of West Yorkshire Police.

That's because the police will be covering the Leeds United v Bradford City game on the Saturday and haven't got the personnel to staff the McAlpine game on the same day.

The Giants have offered an alternative date of Friday, September 3.

However, Hull entertain Bradford Bulls on the Monday of that week and are reluctant to have to play the Giants just four days later.

"This is a very difficult one, and so Hull and ourselves have left it with the RFL to make a final decision," said Giants football manager Stuart Sheard.

"We can fully sympathise with Hull over this matter and why they don't fancy playing us so soon after their game against the Bulls.

"As far as we can see, we have no real alternative but to stage it on Friday night. It really is a no-win situation."
