WESTS Tigers' loss will be Huddersfield Giants' gain!

That's the message from Tigers' assistant coach Peter Gentle as the Galpharm club prepare to welcome three of the Wests side for Super League XII next year.

Prop John Skandalis, utility back Shane Elford (pictured) and centre Jamaal Lolesi have all signed on.

And Gentle, who saw Tigers' Under 18s beat the Giants' Junior Academy 50-16 (report page 46), believes all three will become crowd favourites.

"I know we'll really miss them at Wests, but it looks pretty good for Huddersfield," admitted Gentle, who has worked with the players on a daily basis in Australia.

"There's no question these three will improve the Huddersfield side.

"Skando will be in the engine room - he's a natural pack leader - and there's experience both sides of the ruck in Shane and Jamaal.

"The Giants have already got a squad with a fair bit of quality, and these three will help enhance it.

"That's definitely the case with `Spud' Elford.

"Throughout his career he's been able to bring the best out of the players around him, and there's no reason why he won't continue to do so.

"But I think the one who will make the quickest impact is Skando.

"He's a 100% champion bloke and a player who just doesn't know how to take a backward step."
