BADLY-BEATEN Quins coach Brian McDermott has praised the way the Giants ripped his side apart.

The former assistant coach at Huddersfield refused to comment much on his side’s performance as they crumbled to an eight-try defeat.

Quins’ display was in stark contrast to the one they produced to beat Warrington 60-8 the previous week.

But he felt the way his former club played shouldn’t be overlooked.

“Some days are diamonds, like last week, some days are stones. This result was a huge stone,” said McDermott.

“Policemen sometimes make wrong arrests and we had 17 players who all had an off day at the same time.

“But I think it would be disrespectful just to focus on what we did wrong.

“There are times when you just have to acknowledge the way the opposition play, and I thought Huddersfield were very good.

“To win rugby games you have to run hard and tackle hard, and Huddersfield ran harder than us and tackled harder than us.

“On the day, they were just a lot better than us.”
