PROUD Giant Stephen Wild will walk out at Salford tonight (8.00) as the Super League player of the month for May.

As his club closes in on North Queensland Cowboys utility man Rod Jensen, inset, who could arrive as early as next week, Wild will be part of a Huddersfield Giants team riding on the crest of a wave.

Besides Wild being named the Rugby League World magazine engage Super League top monthly performer, Jon Sharp backed up his April award by scooping the coach of the month for May, while Brad Drew and Martin Aspinwall join Wild in the Super League team of the month.

The awards are another sign of the way the club is progressing as they seek an eighth Super League win on the trot at the struggling City Reds in front of the Sky TV cameras tonight.

And Wild admits they have given the team a huge lift.

"It's fantastic we're being recognised like this. I'm absolutely delighted," he said.

"We're obviously playing really well as a team, and it's great that our efforts haven't gone unnoticed.

"We're having lots of fun and are thoroughly enjoying what we're doing right now, which is being reflected in the performances.

"It's taken a lot of hard work for us to get to this stage, and we don't want to let it slip now.

"We're desperate to see this fantastic run continue at Salford."
