I MADE a decision some time ago to contribute as highly as possible and get involved as much as I can for the Giants.

That determination has increased since picking up my back injury, and I would like to think that this was reflected in the way I played against St Helens.

To score two tries and kick three goals is pleasing.

But a lot of the gloss was obviously taken off this by the fact we were beaten.

There were several reasons why we didn't win yesterday, with a great deal of our disappointment coming from the fact that the critical try by St Helens in the second half came when Sean Long was in an offside position.

But we also weren't helped by the amount of injuries we picked up, which meant that by the end of the game we had all four of our front-row forwards on the park.

That's because myself, Paul Reilly and Stanley Gene had picked up knocks and we didn't want to be risked in the closing stages.

At a push, I could have gone back on, but the back was pretty sore at the time, and I certainly don't want to miss the game at Leeds on Friday!
