LUKE ROBINSON believes Sunday’s Magic Weekend clash against Salford City Reds is a ‘must win’ game for the Giants in their bid to remain in the leading Super League pack.

The former league leaders Huddersfield head to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium having just suffered back-to-back top-flight defeats for the first time this season.

The defeats at Catalan Dragons and at home to Wigan last Friday have dropped the Giants down to third in the Super League table, two points adrift of Wigan and one behind Warrington.

And Robinson knows it’s important the Giants get back on track this weekend and re-vitalise their title challenge.

“We’ve not been dwelling on our recent losses, but we know we can’t afford to see this losing run continue,” said former City Reds favourite Robinson, pictured left.

“Everyone has worked tremendously hard to get us into this position, and we don’t want to see all that hard work start to fall away.

“Losing can become just as much of a habit as winning, and it’s important we get out of that negative habit as quickly as possible, and that obviously means winning against Salford this weekend.

“We know it’s not going to be easy, because they’re now genuine play-off challengers, but we’re determined to get back to playing as well as we possibly can and proving to everyone that we’re still very much alive in the race to finish top.

“That’s a huge source of motivation for us.”
