NATHAN BROWN admits he faces a ‘huge’ challenge to lift his Giants for Sunday’s home clash against Super League leaders Wigan.

The Huddersfield chief has spent the past two days attempting to get to the root cause of Saturday’s humiliating 12-try 60-4 Challenge Cup defeat at the hands of holders Warrington Wolves at the Galpharm.

But Brown knows his biggest task will be to try and raise his side’s spirits for what he knows will be a massive test against a Warriors team that beat the Giants 28-10 at Murrayfield as part of the Magic Weekend nine days ago.

“Everyone was embarrassed and devastated by what went on, but we only have ourselves to blame for that,” said Brown.

“It’s our fault, so it’s up to us to do something about it. As a coaching group and a players group, we have to knuckle down and play harder, because that’s the only way we are going to turn this around.

“This week we all face a huge challenge to make sure we get back to our best as quickly as possible.

“When you come off the pitch you want to be able to with your head held high. That’s what we’re all determined to do next Sunday.”

Brown may be already considering changes to the side to face Wigan, and could be in a position to recall former Warriors second-row forward Stephen Wild, who is close to a return after being sideline for six weeks with a knee injury.

Meanwhile, rumours over in Lancashire have been suggesting Wigan could be about to make an audacious bid to bring Giants stand-off Kevin Brown back to the DW Stadium.

The issue has helped raise the stakes, despite both clubs having denied any substance to the reports, ahead of Sunday’s contest, and Brown is known to be very happy in Huddersfield and made it clear he intends to see out the two years of his Giants contract.
