INSPIRATIONAL Brett Hodgson will play for the Giants in today’s massive Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth-round home clash against holders Warrington Wolves (2.30).

The Super League Man of Steel has confirmed he has fully recovered from a thigh injury and will line up for Huddersfield in a repeat of last year’s Wembley final which Warrington won 25-16.

Hodgson had been expected to be sidelined for at least the next two weeks.

But he has declared himself fit to return to face the club he will be joining at the end of the season, and is determined to do everything he can to help the Giants keep their Challenge Cup dream alive.

“To know I’ll be playing this afternoon is a fantastic feeling,” said Hodgson, who had been included in the Giants’ initial 19-man squad.

“A couple of weeks ago, I’d have said it would have been impossible. In fact, it was at that time the specialist told me these things can take up to six weeks to heal.

“But on the back of a lot of hard work with the club’s medical staff, the injury has improved out of sight and I can’t wait to play.

“I’ve made no secret of how much I want to win something here before I leave, and I hope that dream will still be alive tonight.”
