THE latest Giants’ rugby camp has been hailed a great success!

Over 60 children joined the Giants in the Community team during the October half-term event at The Zone.

As part of the camp, the youngsters worked on their rugby skills and were treated to a Galpharm Stadium tour, where the Giants’ Australia Test forward Luke O’Donnell took time out from the off-season to escort them on a players’ behind-the-scenes tour!

And with all the children receiving a T-shirt, certificate, goody bag and details about joining local rugby league clubs, they all went home happy.

“The holiday rugby camps are continuing to grow, as is the popularity of rugby league amongst the town’s juniors,” said the Giants in the Community development officer Glenn Holdsworth.

“We’re hopeful we’re not only attracting Giants fans to our camps with the attraction of meeting our big stars, but also providing a fantastic practical experience for some children who may then go on and play rugby league at their local community club.”

Plans are now in place for the Christmas rugby camp on Wednesday, December 21.

Running from 9am to 5pm, children aged between six and 13-years-old are invited to sign up, and for more details contact The Zone on 01484 484134 or email community@giantsrl.com. Prices pre-booked are £15 per child.
