HUDDERSFIELD Giants coach Paul Anderson won’t tolerate another “soft” performance from his players.
The second-placed Super League side made it 13 top-flight triumphs with the 25-16 home win over St Helens.
Huddersfield will look to secure another at Hull KR tonight (8.00) to keep the pressure on leaders Wigan.
But Giants chief Anderson knows if his side doesn’t improve on their second-half showing against Saints, they could return from the East coast empty-handed.
“The most pleasing thing about Monday was the fact we won and we created a bit of history by securing a first double over St Helens in 60-plus years,” said Anderson, who has named the same 19-man squad.
“But it was still a performance that, overall, didn’t please me, and the players know exactly what I thought about it.
“I was pleased with the start we made to win the arm wrestle and then go 18-0 up, but after that I was disappointed.
“For some reason we went soft, and that’s something I don’t want to have to say again.
“We have to get back to being far more clinical and ruthless, and start going through teams rather than around them.
“That’s what we expect to see at Hull KR tonight.
“If we do get back to playing to our many strengths, we know everything else will be fine.”
