IN-FORM Kevin Brown is confident of leading the Giants to victory over defending champions Wigan at the Galpharm tonight (8.00) and strengthening his team’s position at the top of Super League.

Huddersfield head into the eagerly-awaited clash having won their last three, including last Sunday’s big 50-16 home win over Bradford and a hard-fought 18-10 triumph at then-leaders Harlequins the week before.

And with England Four Nations hero Luke Robinson ready to return after recovering from shoulder and elbow surgery, the Giants couldn’t be going into the Sky-televised clash in better shape.

In contrast, Wigan have been forced into a major reshuffle following this week’s suspensions of inspirational brothers Sam and Joel Tomkins.

They are also still lacking the services of current Super League Man of Steel Pat Richards and former Great Britain prop Stuart Fielden with long-term knee injuries – and Giants captain and former Wigan favourite Brown is hoping the men in claret and gold can take full advantage.

“Tonight’s going to be special,” said an excited Brown.

“We’re going into the game top of the table and full of confidence, even though we’re about to face the reigning Super League champions.

“We’re not getting too carried away about the way things are going, because we know we still need to improve significantly if we’re to stay at the top.

“But things are looking really good for us at the moment, and it will be even better if we can continue to build on our growing form and beat Wigan.

“That would be another clear sign of the progress we’re making.”
