Danny Brough is closing in on eighth spot in the all-time list of Super League point-scorers.

The Huddersfield Giants captain needs 14 to draw level with current Salford Red Devils coach Iestyn Harris in eighth place with 1,674.

And it would be a big surprise if the 31-year-old Super League Man of Steel didn’t close that gap at home to Widnes on Sunday, with Brough having scored points in all 12 of his career appearances against the Vikings.

He’s managed it in two for Hull FC (2005), five for Castleford (2007) and five for the Giants (2012-2014).

The top 10 list is as follows:

1 Kevin Sinfield (Leeds, 1997-present) 3,181.

2 Paul Deacon (Wigan/Bradford/Oldham, 1997-2011) 2,413.

3 Andy Farrell (Wigan, 1996-2004) 2,376.

4 Lee Briers (Warrington/St Helens, 1997-2013) 2,288.

5 Sean Long (Hull FC/St Helens/Wigan, 1996-2011) 2,200.

6 Danny Tickle (Widnes/Hull FC/Wigan/Halifax, 2000-present) 2,137.

7 Pat Richards (Wigan, 2006-2013) 2,110.

8 Iestyn Harris (Bradford/Leeds/Warrington, 1996-2001 & 2004-2008) 1,674.

9 Danny Brough (Huddersfield/Wakefield/Castleford/Hull FC, 2005-2006 & 2008-present) 1,660.

10 Michael Dobson (Hull KR/Wigan/Catalan Dragons, 2006 & 2008-2013) 1,436.
