Huddersfield Giants' Leroy Cudjoe could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

Scans have confirmed the Giants centre suffered ankle ligament damage during Sunday’s 33-14 home Super League defeat to Warrington Wolves.

And with Joe Wardle also ruled out for around a month with an ankle injury, it means Huddersfield are about to enter a crucial stage of the season without their two main strike centres.

As well as missing Sunday’s big Tetley’s Challenge Cup fourth-round tie at home to in-form unbeaten Super League leaders St Helens, the pair will also miss next Thursday’s trip to Hull FC and then the Easter fixtures against Salford and Wakefield.

Head coach Paul Anderson admits it’s far from ideal.

But he knows it’s a golden opportunity for those who take over to make the most of their chance.

“The news on Leroy is obviously not good,” said Anderson.

“We’re looking at Leroy being out for between four to six weeks, which is disappointing for us and for him.

“As you can imagine, it’s come as a blow for him, but he’s a fit, athletic young man who we all know will do the right thing to make sure he gets back onto the field as soon as he possibly can.”
