Determined Huddersfield Giants chairman Ken Davy won’t rest until his club has won one of the two major pieces of rugby league silverware – and he wants the supporters to be with him every step of the way.

Although Huddersfield are now a major Super League power and collected the League Leaders Shield in 2013, the Giants owner is demanding even more from his team.

He believes the arrival of top Australian NRL stars Ryan Hinchcliffe, from Melbourne Storm, and Sam Rapira from New Zealand Warriors, will give the men from the John Smith’s Stadium a better chance of mounting a successful bid to secure the Super League trophy and Challenge Cup.

And he’s convinced that with more fans backing the Giants cause – Davy is hoping for a late upsurge in season-ticket sales before Monday’s discount deadline – Huddersfield can build on their first top-of-the-table finish in 81 years when they claimed the 2013 Super League Leaders Shield.

“Winning the Shield in 2013 was special, but all that has done has made us even more determined to go on and lift the even bigger prizes of the Super League and Challenge Cup,” said Davy.

“I’m proud to be able to say that it’s not since the days of Huddersfield’s legendary Team of All Talents a century ago that we’ve been as consistently successful in securing a top-three finish for three successive seasons.

“But this time around we’ve obviously not backed that up by collecting any major pieces of silverware to show for it.

“We want that to end, and I genuinely believe we have the squad to make sure that happens, although we know we can’t do it on our own.

“We know the key to our future success is for everyone to come together as one united force, with our supporters playing a massively important role.

“That’s why I’m urging as many of the area’s sports fans as possible to take advantage of our discount season-ticket offers – after next Monday they’re gone – and be part of our final push for rugby league glory.

“We’re proud of the offers we have available, and we want as many supporters as possible to be there to share in the Giants’ ambition and determination to succeed.”And Davy knows that anyone new to the Giants for 2016 wouldn’t be at all disappointed by what the current Super League squad has to offer.

“They will be watching one of the best and most consistent sides in the competition, playing a brand of rugby which has earned admirers everywhere,” added the owner.

“Supporters will be able to see players like Super League’s top tryscorer and World XIII winger Jermaine McGillvary, the iconic Eorl Crabtree and arguably the competition’s most skilful players in Danny Brough.

“We know we have the side capable of matching the legendary Team of All Talents and becoming the Giants of All Talents.”
