KEN DAVY issued a personal apology to Giants fans for the defeat at Castleford.

And he’s made it clear he expects to see much better from Nathan Brown’s charges in the Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final against Warrington at Salford next Sunday.

The club owner and chairman suffered yesterday’s 52-6 mauling by Castleford Tigers – a seventh defeat in eight Super League outings – first-hand and admitted confidence in the camp has taken another blow.

He said: “We are all bitterly disappointed with the performance (against Castleford) and I want to apologise personally to the supporters of Huddersfield Giants.

“An enormous amount of effort and resources have gone into building a successful club and a team that, only a few short weeks ago, was top of Super League.

“To have fallen away over the last six weeks or so has been incredibly frustrating for everyone, and I don’t believe a team that was doing as well as it was can become a bad team in just a few weeks.

“We have some fantastic players and still the opportunity of an excellent season.

“Unfortunately, however, results like the one at Castleford do nothing to improve the confidence of anyone connected with the club, so I would like to reiterate my personal apology for this kind of performance.”

The Giants were thumped by eight tries to one at the Probiz Coliseum, where they were watched by around 300 travelling fans.

Davy added: “We all know the team and the squad are capable of much more and we look forward to that being achieved, starting with the Challenge Cup semi-final next week.”
