KEN DAVY knows there will be no complacency when the Huddersfield Giants take to the field for Sunday’s Challenge Cup home quarter-final clash against London Broncos (5pm).

Joint Super League leaders Huddersfield are red-hot favourites to beat the struggling Broncos and secure a fourth semi-final spot in the space of eight years.

The Giants head into the weekend tie having won 10 of their opening 13 top-flight fixtures, while London are second bottom of the table with just two home wins to their name.

Sunday’s last-eight tie is the start of an exciting week of action for Huddersfield, who host Wigan in a massive Super League top-of-the-table clash next Friday.

And Giants chairman Davy would love to begin the build-up to the Warriors showdown with a Challenge Cup semi-final berth having been booked.

“These are exciting times for the Giants, and this next week promises to be the most exciting of the season so far,” said Davy.

“This weekend we’ve got the chance to reach the semi-final of the Challenge Cup and then the following Friday we host Wigan in one of the biggest Super League games of the season so far.

“It’s one v two in the table, so matches don’t get much more important than that.

“We’re confident of attracting our biggest crowd of the season that day, particularly as we’re using the game to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee at the same time and have a whole host of special events planned.

“I know it will be an occasion the fans will never forget.”

But first of all, the Giants need to beat the Broncos, which Davy knows his club can’t take for granted.

“Nobody is being fooled by their low position in the League table,” he added.

“When we played down there earlier in the season it was nip and tuck until pretty late in the game.

“The players and coaching staff know they’re going to need to be at their very best and have trained accordingly.”
