GIANTS chief Nathan Brown has given the thumbs up to a home tie against fellow Super League side Hull KR in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup.

But the Australian knows his club can’t afford to get too carried away between now and a clash which won’t take place until the weekend of April 16-18.

Current form would suggest the Giants are in great shape to beat the Robins as Brown’s men bid to go one better than last season and win the Challenge Cup final at Wembley on August 28.

It’s just 17 days since the Giants thrashed Hull KR 30-0 at Craven Park.

But with six Super League fixtures to be played before the cup tie, including three in the space of sevens days over a punishing Easter period, Brown knows it’s impossible to predict who could triumph at the Galpharm and progress to the last 16 of rugby league’s most famous knockout competition.

“Obviously, the first thing you want is a home draw, and that’s what we’ve got,” said Brown, pictured, whose side was beaten 25-16 by Warrington in the 2009 final. “But there are certainly easier ties than Hull KR, who we know are a good team.

“The fact we had such a good victory over them the other week means we should be going into the tie with a bit of confidence.

“But who knows how both teams will be by the time we face each other? There are some tough Super League games before then, and injuries could be picked up and form could be lost, so it’s hard to read too much into the tie at this stage.”
