HUDDERSFIELD Giants are close to announcing a new main shirt sponsor for 2011.

The University of Huddersfield logo has featured on the front of the Giants’ Super League shirt for the past six years.

Although the University will continue to be a main partner, they will no longer play such a high-profile role.

The Giants haven’t been short of offers to take over because of the national exposure the club receive.

During the past four seasons the Giants have appeared in two Challenge Cup finals, while they came close to reaching their first Super League Grand Final a couple of weeks ago.

And, with Kevin Brown, Eorl Crabtree, Leroy Cudjoe, Darrell Griffin, Shaun Lunt and Luke Robinson in the England Four Nations squad in Australia and New Zealand, the Giants’ profile is unlikely to diminish soon.

Giants chairman Ken Davy has heaped praise on the University for their support.

“I really have to give the University of Huddersfield a giant ‘thank you’ for their superb support over the past six years,” he said.

“But although their name will no longer adorn the front of our shirt, they will remain our main educational partner and our links will, I believe, grow even stronger.

“To have two of the town’s major organisations working together for their mutual benefit and that of the wider community is exactly how partnerships should work, and we look forward to our association continuing long into the future.”
