NATHAN BROWN is determined to see the Giants put a bad Easter behind them and come back stronger for the second half of Super League XVI.

Huddersfield once again lost top spot after suffering an agonising 13-12 defeat at in-form Catalan Dragons.

That result, coupled with the Crusaders’ horror show on Good Friday, prevented the Giants from building a commanding lead at the top of the table.

But Brown knows his side has what it takes to put a shaky spell behind them and re-group for the matches ahead, starting with Sunday’s Carnegie Challenge Cup fourth-round clash at Championship club Batley Bulldogs.

“We’ve had a pretty poor Easter, there’s no getting away from that,” said Brown.

“Fortunately, we’ve had a good start to the year and we’re still in a pretty good spot on the ladder.

“We just need to get some consistency back into our game and string some good performances together over a longer period.

“Even though we’ve all come back from France feeling really disappointed – and understandably so – if we’d have done a touch better we’d have come out of Easter top of the competition, which would have been great.”

And Brown knows that if the players learn the lessons from their Catalan defeat they won’t go far wrong.

“We made over 20 errors the other night, and at this standard of footy you can’t do that, especially against a team that is playing that well,” he added.

“But I’m sure that if we keep the same level of effort and commitment as we showed against Catalan and tidy up a few things with our attack and ball handling, the future for us will be good.

“It’s just a case of continuing to work hard, because we know there’s a lot we can achieve this year.”
