PAUL ANDERSON is hoping Huddersfield Giants fans will give Nathan Brown a warm welcome when he makes a first return to Huddersfield tonight.
This evening’s trip with new club St Helens will be the first time Brown has returned to the town.
“I really hope the fans give him the sort of reception he deserves – a positive one,” said Anderson.
“He did a tremendous amount for this club during his time here. He helped take us to the Challenge Cup final at Wembley in 2009 and then to one game away from the Super League Grand Final 12 months later.
“That’s a fantastic achievement in anyone’s book.
“And he also did so much in terms of the development of a lot of the personnel here, me included.
“I learned so much as a coach off Browny, and I know that’s stood me in good stead.
“As well as being close working colleagues, we’ve also become very good friends, and we speak to each other on a weekly basis – although for some reason we missed out on our chat last week!
“But I know that as soon as we’ve got tonight out of the way, those chats will resume and it’ll be back to normal.”
And Anderson believes that despite Saints’ shaky start to the season, Brown is doing an excellent job at Langtree Park.
“When you consider the crippling injury list he’s had to deal with, he’s done a great job,” added the former St Helens prop.
“The star names are returning now, which will make tonight very tough.”
