HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS coach Paul Anderson will be making at least four changes to today’s side to host Widnes Vikings.

Props Stuart Fielden and Anthony Mullally and back-rowers Jacob Fairbank and Peter Aspinall all featured in Friday’s demoralising 21-20 Super League XVIII defeat at Salford City Reds.

But they are not included in Anderson’s 19-man squad as the Giants bid to return to winning ways after the defeats at Salford and Warrington the week before.

Stepping in after not featuring in Friday’s 19 are the fit-again Michael Lawrence, Luke George, Larne Patrick and Ukuma Ta’ai.

It will, of course, be back-row Lawrence’s first game of the season after suffering major ankle ligament damage in the pre-season home game against Widnes in January, which the Giants won 36-12 after trailing 12-0 early on.

All four will obviously be hoping to feature, as will Jamie Cording and Matty Dawson, who were 18th and 19th men respectively at Salford.

Anderson, however, has made it clear the decision to ‘drop’ four players after Friday is not a reflection of the way they played, just the continuation of the squad’s rotation policy.

Widnes will, not surprisingly, want to keep changes to their side that beat Warrington 38-22 on Friday to a minimum, with ex-Giant Phil Joseph (left) expected to play.
