Huddersfield Giants could face a tough test in their second pre-season fixture of 2015.

Head coach Paul Anderson, and what could be a selection close to his first choice side are due at The Shay to face Championship outfit Halifax on Sunday, January 25 – the game will follow the Giants sending a full squad to Odsal on the January 18 to face the Bulls.

However, new Halifax coach Richard Marshall, a former Giants forward, looks set to have a squad bolstered by some new faces as Fax look to make their new dual-registration partnership with Hull KR pay dividends.

“I think there have been positives and negatives with dual reg in the past,” said Marshall.

“But I honestly think it’s a no lose situation for us as long as the terms of the agreement are clear – which they are.”

Although Rovers will offer players to both Championship I outfit Gateshead and Halifax, the receiving club will always retain the option of whether or not to play any dual-registered player.

The Robins chief executive Mike Smith believes the partnership with The Shay club will prove a vital asset next year and said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely together to the advantage of both clubs.”
