Huddersfield Giants are going to Halifax tomorrow to win!

That’s the message from head coach Paul Anderson as he prepares to send a fledgling side to The Shay for the annual Infirmary Cup pre-season encounter (3.00).

With Fax boss Richard Marshall expected to field a strong starting line-up, the host Championship club are expected to provide formidable opposition for Anderson’s young side.

But with the likes of former New Zealand Test prop Sam Rapira and Jake Connor, Kruise Leeming, Josh Johnson, Jared Simpson and Nathan Mason – who already have Super League experience under their belts – ready to take their place in the Giants run-on side, Anderson has high expectations.

“Are we going there to win? Absolutely!” declared Anderson.

“The first thing we’re looking at is the performance, and if the performance is good then we know we’ll give ourselves a chance of winning.

“We know it ain’t going to be fluent, because this will be our first run-out of the year, but I’m still expecting to see some good things from this group.

“It’s going to be a good test for everyone, but it’s the sort of test these young players need and want if they are to achieve their ultimate aim of playing regularly in Super League.”
