Key Huddersfield Giants duo Brett Ferres and Joe Wardle have been forced to pull out of tomorrow’s Super League clash at Warrington Wolves.

England back-row forward Ferres has failed to recover from a dead leg he picked up in the win over Widnes 10 days ago, while in-form centre Wardle picked up a hamstring strain in training.

Both men would have been fit to play had the game taken place over the weekend.

But head coach Paul Anderson isn’t prepared to risk either player suffering further damage by playing them at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

“It’s disappointing for them, but it’s a positive in another sense, because it gives two other players the chance to play,” said Anderson.

“And even without Brett and Joe I know we have the side capable of going there tomorrow night and winning.”

Jake Connor and Jacob Fairbank replace the injured pair in the Giants’ initial 19-man squad.
