Huddersfield Giants will get their shot this season at a first-ever Super League Grand Final appearance.
They are effectively 80 minutes away from Old Trafford after challengers Castleford Tigers lost 42-38 at home to St Helens last night.
Saints moved above the Giants into third in the table, guaranteeing their own place in the semi-finals and as near as possible confirming Paul Anderson’s side will be there as well.
Cas can now only match the Giants on points if they win their final two matches and the John Smith’s side lose all three – starting against Warrington at home on Sunday (3pm).
Even then, Cas would have to make up a points difference of 155 over those games, which is highly unlikely to happen.
So the top four and semi-finalists will be Leeds Rhinos, who have signed Danny McGuire for another two years, Wigan Warriors, St Helens and the Giants, and the only thing left to decide is in which order.
Giants coach Anderson has promised there will be no let-up from his side in the final three qualifying fixtures, and he will be keen to go back above St Helens with a win on Sunday.
