AROUND 1,000 Giants fans are expected to flood into Stade Gilbert Brutus tonight for the top-of-the-table Super League clash against Catalan Dragons.

Galpharm officials have confirmed a record number of tickets have been sold for a top-flight fixtures across the channel as the Giants bid to remain two points clear at the top of the table.

And in a further boost, Huddersfield are now on their third allocation of Magic Weekend tickets and sit fourth on the unofficial RFL league table of sales ahead of the clash against Salford at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on Sunday, May 27 (2.00pm).

The Giants have already sold a club record number of tickets for a Magic Weekend fixture, with Giants managing director Richard Thewlis (left) keen to stress the benefit of a large, colourful and vocal claret and gold following for the Manchester event.

"Magic is a showpiece occasion for all clubs, and for us it is a real opportunity to show the entire rugby league public that our supporter base is growing,” said Thewlis.

“We’re already guaranteed our largest ever away support for the event and expect sales to pick up as the day approaches.

“Fans are advised that only by purchasing early from us can they guarantee they will be in our section of the ground, and it would be great to see all our fans sitting together and not strung out around the stadium as has been the case at other games.

“The Magic Weekend is also a time when the national media spotlight turns more heavily on the game and, again, for our perception as a leading club, it’s vital we are seen in numbers by the people that write about the game and can be so influential in forming views of us.

“We believe we have a young, growing audience who buy into the family values that rugby league portrays, and this event will be a great opportunity for us to showcase ourselves.”
