NATHAN BROWN is hoping Sunday’s pre-season squad to face Wakefield at Belle Vue (3.30) will once again prove the Giants’ future is in very safe hands.

While the Wildcats will be fielding their strongest available Super League squad, Huddersfield are travelling with a mix of senior and junior players.

Fit-again Shaun Lunt (hernia) and Danny Kirmond (finger) will play their first games of the year, while fellow established top-flight performers Darrell Griffin, Larne Patrick and Andy Raleigh will have their second run-outs.

But the rest of Sunday’s squad will be made up of rising Giants stars, with Brown hoping they will take the opportunity to further underline their potential.

“We were encouraged with the way the young kids played at Batley the other week and they again did well against Hull KR,” said Brown, who will take an overview of Sunday’s game from the stands, with assistant coach Paul Anderson taking charge.

“Those who played last Sunday looked very comfortable and have deserved the opportunity to show what they can do again.

“We’re really impressed with the quality of the young players who are now coming through.

“We expect them to do well again.”
