DAVID FA’ALOGO has warned his Giants teammates not to get too carried away ahead of tomorrow’s big home derby clash against Bradford Bulls (3.00).

Huddersfield start the eagerly-awaited Galpharm Stadium Super League XVI fixture as the clear favourites to make it four wins from five starts.

Success over the eighth-placed Bulls could also take the Giants back to the summit of the top-flight table.

But former New Zealand Test back-rower Fa’alogo knows if his side don’t play to their full potential, they could fall flat on their face.

“We’ve made a pretty solid start to the season and it’s nice to be sitting where we are on the League ladder,” said Fa’alogo.

“But now is definitely not the time to get too carried away.

“If we’re right up there after round 26, that’s the time when you can be happy, but not now.

“We know we’ve got to show a lot of improvement if we are to make it a better season than last season when we finished one game short of the Grand Final.

“And we need to be much better against Bradford tomorrow.

“They’ve clearly had a lean couple of years, but I expect them to be a very tough team to beat, just like every side is in Super League.

“We prepare for every game as if we’re playing a Leeds, St Helens or Wigan, because if we don’t we could fall short.

“No-one wants that to happen here.”

Fa’alogo will again start in the second row, with head coach Nathan Brown retaining the bulk of those players who secured the hard-fought 18-10 triumph over previous leaders Harlequins at The Stoop last week.

But there will definitely be one change in the backs, with no place in the 19-man squad this week for winger David Hodgson.

His place is expected to be taken by Jamie Simpson, who is poised to make his debut following his move from Australian NRL club South Sydney Rabbitohs.

And prop Keith Mason is also poised to play after missing the last two games.

Hooker Adam O’Brien could be in line for his Bulls debut after being named in Mick Potter’s 19-man squad.

But Bradford still lack influential Heath L’Estrange, Chev Walker, Kyle Briggs and Jamie Langley, with Potter predicting a tough encounter for his team.

“It could be an open game if the conditions allow it, because both sides like to play,” he said.

“But we’ll have to be careful of Huddersfield coming down the middle. They do it very well.”
