IT PROMISES to be a derby day to remember for Giants hooker Brad Drew.

Tomorrow’s clash with his former club Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the Galpharm Stadium (3.00) will see the 34-year-old play his 100th game for the Giants.

Drew is expected to achieve the milestone as the Giants face John Kear’s side in the Super League round 24 clash, following on from another strong performance in last weekend’s 40-4 home victory over Harlequins RL.

Drew was delighted with both his and the team’s display against Quins and said: “It was a really enjoyable performance, particularly in the second half.

“It was the first 80 minutes I have played in a long time and it was good to get that kind of game time under my belt.

“It’s all going well at the moment and I’m very glad to be playing, it’s well documented that at one stage this season I wasn’t sure I would ever be playing again, so to get 80 minutes under my belt was a big step forward for me personally.”

But Drew had definitely not been counting off the days to reaching his Giants ton.

“I wasn’t aware until I was told that it was my 100th game, but it’s fantastic, “ said the former Penrith Panthers, Parramatta Eels and Canberra Raiders player.

“I’m glad that I’ve reached the milestone for this club, which is really close to my heart.

“The club means the world to me and it’s been a fantastic experience being here, not only for me but for my family also.

“From a personal point of view it couldn’t have turned out better, I’ve got some great memories of playing in the claret and gold and when I got the chance to come back it was an easy decision.

“I’m really happy with the achievement and I’m looking forward to the game, it makes it that little bit more special!”
