LEADING tryscorer Luke George’s hopes of playing in the Huddersfield Giants’ Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final showdown with Warrington on Sunday hang in the balance.

The former Wakefield winger, who has crossed 13 times this season, was concussed during Sunday’s dismal 52-6 Super League defeat at Castleford.

He will be given the maximum time possible to recover as Huddersfield prepare for the last-four clash at the City of Salford Stadium, where kick-off is 5.30.

“Luke got a bad concussion, and we can’t really answer the question of whether he can play in semi-final at the moment,” said Giants head coach Nathan Brown.

“We also had three others come off the field with knocks at Cas, but they all should be repaired and all will be fit to play.”

Brown will be looking for a huge improvement after Sunday’s loss.

“We didn’t try, and I have to take my share of the blame as I presented the players and so am as much to blame as those who were out there,” he said.

“It was embarrassing for our fans and I can only apologise.

“We don’t have the biggest away support, but they are a very loyal group who come away and for them to see that performance – I just feel really sorry for them.

“They are entitled to be angry, they are entitled to boo me and boo the players and have their say.”
