Paul Anderson has confirmed the Huddersfield Giants are keeping a close eye on the player market following the departure of Shaun Lunt to Hull KR.

But the Huddersfield chief has made it clear the Super League club won’t rush into bringing in a new player just because they have fresh salary-cap cash available.

“Lunty’s departure does give us some manoeuvrability in the player market, as a fair chunk of salary cap has now become available,” said Anderson, who could keep faith with the same side that beat Castleford Tigers 22-0 last Thursday for Sunday’s trip to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

“I’m constantly talking to the chairman (Ken Davy) and managing director (Richard Thewlis) about potential targets.

“We’re in no rush to bring in a new player, but if someone becomes available we do now have the ability to move in on that.

“At the moment, we have a very healthy squad and we’ve a lot of faith in what they’re doing.

“But it’s good to know we do have the option to make a move if we feel it’s required.”
