KEVIN BROWN is relishing the chance to take on Leeds Rhinos in the form of his life.

The 25-year-old half-back inspired Huddersfield to a stunning 52-0 Super League XV victory at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats a week ago.

That’s put Brown and the Giants in buoyant mood ahead of tomorrow’s big West Yorkshire derby battle against the champions at the Galpharm (3.00).

And although former Wigan ace Brown knows this clash will be a step up in class, he believes his side are ready to meet the challenge head-on and secure a first League win over the Rhinos in seven years.

“We couldn’t have wished to have been in better shape for a game like this,” said Brown. “We’re all buzzing after the way we played at Wakefield last week.

“We again defended well and scored some great tries, and that’s lifted the confidence of everyone.

“I think the most pleasing thing of it all was that we put together an 80-minute performance for the first time this season, and the result of doing that speaks for itself.

“The challenge now is to back it up with an even stronger performance against the champions, because that’s what we know we’re going to have to do. No-one’s getting carried away over the way we played last weekend, the coaching staff have made sure of that.

“This week has been all about working on the areas that weren’t right against Wakefield, and hopefully that’ll pay off against Leeds tomorrow.”

Brown knows the 10-try demolition of the Wildcats was down to a quality team display but he also felt he produced his strongest performance in a Giants shirt.

“I was pleased with my form in the opening games, and I was particularly happy with the way I played last weekend. I reckon I’m in the form of my life,” he said

“I’ve had a great pre-season on the back of suffering my knee injury in last season’s Challenge Cup final and I now just feel fitter and stronger than ever before. That’s why I say I now feel I’m in the form of my life.

“It means I’m now going into every game feeling confident, although part of that is also down to the players I’m working alongside.

“It’s an absolute dream working on the left alongside Lee Gimour, Paul Whatuira and David Hodgson. We’re all playing well and the understanding we’ve got is spot-on.

“Playing next to Gilly (Gilmour) is obviously new to me seeing as he’s only been with us since late last year, but it’s only now I’m appreciating what a strong defender he is.

“When you’ve got somebody like that by your side it makes your job so much easier, so hopefully I’ll find that’s the case again after tomorrow.”
