LUKE ROBINSON believes the Huddersfield Giants have a team of leaders ready to fire the club to success.
The 28-year-old scrum-half starts the 2013 campaign as vice-captain, with half-back partner Danny Brough the skipper.
The inspirational duo were chosen for the role in August by new head coach Paul Anderson from a leadership team that also included Eorl Crabtree, David Faiumu, Scott Grix and Luke O’Donnell.
Since then, the Giants have recruited experienced former Great Britain prop Stuart Fielden, who is already making a massive impact in pre-season.
And Robinson believes success will be down to the example set by all of the team’s leaders and not just himself and Brough.
“Broughy and myself have made no secret of how much of an honour it is to be captain and vice-captain,” said Robinson.
“But we know if all the key on-field decisions were taken by us, and us alone, we’d be hung out to dry.
“We may be captain and vice-captain, but what happens on the field will be a collective decision taken by the leadership group.
“When you’ve got players of the experience of Luke O’Donnell and Stuart Fielden in your squad, you’d be stupid not to take advantage of that.
“They’ve both done it all at Test level and their professionalism never fails to shine through, which is also the case of the other leadership boys.
“Me and Broughy know how lucky we are to be able to call on players of this sort of calibre, and we know our success this season will be down to the example set by all of us, both on and off the field.
“In my opinion, we’ve got a team of leaders capable of getting us to the very top.”
