GIANTS Head of Youth Performance Pete Riding can’t wait for the start of the new Under 20s campaign.

And he has also expressed his delight that Richard Knight and John Hough have agreed to play major roles on the coaching front.

Riding has confirmed Knight, who led Underbank to Conference National glory last season, has been retained by the Giants, while Hough has been recruited from Oldham.

Hough led the Lancashire club to Under 23s Grand Final glory last season.

That shows the Giants’ desire to have winning coaches on board, with Riding looking forward to seeing what they can do as the club looks to make progress at the levels below Super League.

“I think this year will be the toughest this particular competition has ever been,” he said.

“We, as a club, are extremely excited what the season will bring.

“We have changed the coaching teams and invested a lot of time and effort into the Youth Performance structures and systems which we believe has helped us create the best environment for the players.

“And I’m delighted we had the opportunity to keep Richard with us for a second year. He worked predominately with the Under 16s last year, where he did a great job.

“This season he will be more involved with the Academy squads.”

“It’s also great to welcome John to the club as he is an individual that has played at the highest level.

“Both coaches are great assets to the club and it can only benefit us.”

The Giants will again play their Under 20s home fixtures at Huddersfield YMCA, and the full list is:
