Huddersfield Giants Under 19s are back in Academy action on Thursday night and determined to end a four-game losing run.

After an excellent start to their campaign, coach Chris Thorman’s side are desperate to start collecting League points again to maintain their play-off challenge.

And they will be hoping a clash against Castleford Tigers at Mend-A-Hose Jungle will kick-start the recovery.

The Giants head into that match just six days after suffering a narrow 15-12 defeat against Salford Red Devils.

Huddersfield raced into an early 6-0 lead through a Darnell McIntosh try, converted by Jack Miller, but were pegged back to 6-4 by the break.

The half-time team talk seemed to galvanize the Red Devils as they scored two tries and a drop goal to lead 15-6 before Will Gledhill crossed for a consolation converted score.

The match also marked the return to action of full-back Jake Connor, who was playing his first game since suffering an ankle injury in the Super League win at London Broncos in early May.

There was also a defeat for the Giants Under 16s side, who were beaten 24-4 at Bradford Bulls in their final Scholarship fixture of the season, with Ben Kershaw grabbing the visitors’ consolation try.
