Eorl Crabtree knows the Giants must overcome all the odds to beat Catalan Dragons in the South of France tomorrow to build on their growing Super League momentum.

As well as facing the fired-up Dragons in front of a hostile home crowd, the experienced prop expects his side to again struggle to benefit from any 50-50 calls.

That’s become a common complaint from clubs doing battle in Perpignan.

But Crabtree is confident the Giants will still be strong enough to handle everything that’s thrown at them and build on last weekend’s 66-18 thrashing of Bradford Bulls at Odsal.

“I must have played about eight times in Catalan and it’s never easy,” said Crabtree.

“You always know they’re going to come firing at you and be as physical as they possibly can.

“If you’re not prepared for that you can be in big trouble.

“But you can also expect to be on the wrong side of the 50-50 calls. It seems to happen every year, like last season when Luke Robinson was sent off and was subsequently found not guilty.

“It’s not something that happens on purpose, it’s just one of those things.

“The key thing with this is to hold your nerve and dig deep, like we did to win the game when Robbo was shown the red card last season.

“If we do that again and play to our potential we know we’ll have absolutely nothing to worry about.”
