HIGH-FLYING Wigan have some unfinished business with Huddersfield.

The Warriors’ opening day of the campaign resulted in that shock 20-16 defeat to the Giants, who had many of their first team squad unavailable for the fixture.

Since then, the cherry and whites have gone on to lose just two more games, to Widnes and Warrington, and have progressed to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, after beating fierce rivals St Helens in last week’s quarter-final.

Their success is the result of the quality they possess in their ranks, especially at half-back, with Antipodean and former representative pair Brett Finch and Thomas Leuluai pulling the strings.

Wigan’s pack is another success story for the club, with last week’s starting forwards all coming through the club’s academy.

And Nathan Brown, in particular, has heaped praise on loose-forward captain Sean O’Loughlin, stating he is the best player in the competition.

But the Huddersfield chief will obviously be hoping to keep him, and their other major threats, quiet come tonight.

SUPERSTAR Sam Tomkins is considered by many to be the best this country has to offer.

The England ace burst onto the scene as a wiry fresh-faced 18-year-old back in 2008, replacing Tim Smith in the stand-off role.

Year on year he has got better and, now in the full back role, he is able to conjure up some magic out of nothing.

WIGANER Shaun Wane has clearly stamped his personality on the Warriors dressing room.

The no-nonsense head coach took over from Michael Maguire for this season, and had a tough act to follow in his former Super League and Challenge Cup winning superior.

He seems to be doing a fine job so far, though, guiding his beloved Wigan to the semi-finals of the cup and to the top of the table.

But he will still have bad memories of his opening game in charge against the Giants, and he will be hoping to get the Huddersfield hoodoo of his back.
