Wigan are a team looking to win it all this season.

The Warriors saw many of their stellar names, including their star Antipodean and representative halfback pairing of Brett Finch and Thomas Leuluai, exit the DW stadium last year.

Another one to go just before the start of the campaign was home-grown second-row forward Gareth Hock, who was sent out on loan to Widnes after stating he didn’t want to play for the club.

Despite the notable departures, new halves pairing Blake Green and Matty Smith have settled straight in and it has been business as usual.

Smith, in fact, guided Wigan to Challenge Cup glory in August in a Lance Todd trophy-winning performance in their 13-0 Wembley win over Hull FC.

But with captain and key player Sean O’Loughlin recently ruled out through injury for the rest of the season, their chances of doing a League and Cup double took a massive hit.

With two losses to the Giants already this season, there will certainly be no more motivation needed for the Warriors ahead of their visit to the John Smith’s Stadium tonight.

Super League Man of Steel Sam Tomkins is considered by many to be the best this country has to offer.

The England star burst onto the scene as a wiry, fresh-faced 18-year-old back in 2008, replacing Tim Smith in the stand-off role.

Year on year he has just got better and, now in the full-back role, he will be able to conjure up some magic out of nothing against Huddersfield tonight.

Even though he has had an injury-hit season, he was still named in the 2013 Super League Dream Team announced this week, along with Wigan teammates Josh Charnley, Sean O’Loughlin and Matty Smith.

Wiganer Shaun Wane has clearly stamped his personality on the Warriors dressing room.

The no-nonsense head coach took over from Michael Maguire last year and had a tough act to follow in his former Super League and Challenge Cup-winning superior.

He seems to be doing a fine job so far, though, having guided his beloved Wigan to the Minor Premiership last season and now the Challenge Cup this year.

But the lack of a Challenge Cup or a Super league trophy in 2012 was a huge disappointment to Wane, and he will be hoping 2013 is the year in which they can take both major honours home.
