Huddersfield Giants’ overseas duo Chris Bailey and Ukuma Ta’ai are expected to play as full a training role as possible in the build-up to the new Super League season.

Australian Bailey and Tongan Ta’ai are both planning to spend Christmas back home.

That means they’re set to have a slightly longer festive break than their Huddersfield teammates.

But head coach Paul Anderson has made it clear he won’t let their long trips and time Down Under be used an excuse for a slip in training standards when they resume their pre-season work in the New Year.

“Bails and Ukuma haven’t missed a minute of pre-season so far,” revealed Anderson.

“They played a full part in our army camp trip and have contributed to every training session we’ve held.

“If they keep this up, you can certainly say they’ll have earned their breaks back home. Hopefully, it’ll keep them fresh, mentally and physically.

“But they also know that as soon as they return to work they’ll be expected to carry on from where they left off.

“We’ll be very disappointed if they’ve slipped back in any way.”
