Giants pack star Eorl Crabtree is hoping that Huddersfield can turn their league momentum into a forward march in the Challenge Cup.

The Giants face Leeds at Headingley in the televised tie on Saturday (2.30) and after the two sides recently drew 24-24 in Super League at the John Smith’s Stadium, Crabtree knows that the winning margins will be fine.

“We are looking forward to the Leeds game, but we will have to start a little bit better than we did the last time we played them,” said the 32-year-old former England international.

“We know that they will have done their homework on us, as they always do, so it will be a good match-up.

“They have the sort of players in their team when they can score from anywhere and hurt you from any part of the field, so we have got to defend well but ensure that we can also create our own opportunities.

“After the last game where we drew I think both teams will be feeling that they should make more of their opportunities.

“But essentially it comes down to who controls the ball and possession, because they will be the team that goes on and wins the game.

“Because of that I think it will be a great game because both teams know what the other offers – and it will be down to who deals with that best on the day.”
