The Huddersfield Giants are planning a whole host of activities to make sure their home Super League XXI opener against Wigan Warriors on Friday proves a big hit.

Gates open at 7pm – the action gets under way at 8pm – and the first 500 junior Giants fans will be treated to a free glowstick, while the juniors can also check out the new astroturf down at Big G’s den. Face painting will also be available for junior fans to get into the matchday spirit.

As usual the Giants mascot, Big G, will be on hand to greet Claret and Gold supporters, and fans will also be able to have a selfie taken with him and the Giants cheerleaders with the club’s new selfie boards for the 2016 season.

The Cowbell Army Giants band will once again be situated at the back of the Britannia Rescue Stand to add to the matchday atmosphere.

With the Giants Ticket Office expected to be extremely busy fans are encouraged to arrived early and also enjoy the street entertainers who will be fire breathing and on stilts, whilst Honley Samba Band will be entertaining supporters as they arrive.

Supporters are also reminded they can save £3 on matchday prices by purchasing their tickets for the game before 12 midday on Friday.

“The opening home game of the season is always a special occasion, and we’re confident this will be no exception,” said Giants marketing chief James Brammer.

“The Wigan fans will be travelling in good numbers, so let’s do what we can to make sure we can out-sing and out-shout them and make it another Giants night to remember!”
