Eorl Crabtree can’t wait to get involved in a massive Huddersfield Giants pack scrap at Bradford Bulls on Sunday.

Huddersfield plan to give every fully-fit member of their Super League squad a run-out in their opening trial clash at Odsal this weekend.

A trimmed-down 19 or 20-man squad will then travel to a second Kingstone Press Championship side, Halifax, seven days later before head coach Paul Anderson chooses his 17 to face Hull FC in the Super League XX opener at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday, February 8.

And with Crabtree up against the likes of new signing Craig Huby, Craig Kopczak, Anthony Muilally and Josh Johnson – as well as rising stars Tyler Dickinson, Mick Learmonth and Tyler Dickinson – for a starting 2015 spot, the experienced Crabtree knows he can’t take anything for granted.

“It’s going to be tough from the start,” said the 32-year-old.

“Everyone’s going to need to be at their best against Bradford to guarantee they’re included at Halifax the following week, and it’s going to get tougher to make sure you’re in the frame for Hull.

“And I know reputations won’t count for anything when Paul Anderson makes his final pick. It’ll be down to how well we perform as individuals.”
