Victorious Huddersfield Giants are ready for their final push towards the start of Super League 2016.

After strolling to a 38-6 trial triumph at Hull KR last Sunday, coach Paul Anderson’s men backed it up with a hard-fought 26-16 pre-season home win over Catalans Dragons on Saturday.

That was the Giants’ final warm-up test before their top-flight opener at St Helens on Friday, February 5.

And Anderson is feeling positive ahead of the trip.

“Physically, I thought we looked all right against Catalans,” said Anderson, who also revealed that Kyle Wood wasn’t risked after pulling up with a tight quad muscle on the eve of the game.

“But the players admitted they did feel a bit fatigued at times during the game.

“To be honest, that wasn’t too great a surprise after coming off a really hard block of training with a game in the middle of it.

“In fact, they went into the match having had just one day off in the last 10.

“So they’ve deserved a couple of days off before we can look forward to round one, which I’m sure they will after two solid and successful pre-season work-outs.”
