THE Giants community team will launch their ‘Summer Rugby Clinics’ tomorrow.

The courses give children between the ages of seven and 13 the chance to enjoy high-quality rugby league coaching at The Zone.

A two-day clinic starts tomorrow and finishes on Friday. Then, the following weeks, full-day clinics run every Wednesday throughout the school summer holidays.

Prices are £15 a day or £20 for the two-day clinic, with the sessions getting under way at 9am and finishing at 3pm.

At the end of each clinic at 3pm all those taking part will be presented with a Giants medal, community goodies and certificate.

In addition to being coached by the Giants development team, youngsters will also have the opportunity to meet first-team players and mascot Big G!

There is a significant saving by pre-booking, and to find out more details or book a place please email community.giants@btconnect.com or contact The Zone reception on 01484 484134.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield will take part in their fifth festival Tag RL festival this weekend – and are inviting new players to boost the squad.

The Tag series has seen hundreds of participants playing in mixed seven-a-side open age teams in venues across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Currently fourth in the Tag Series League, Huddersfield are relishing the next festival in Ovenden, Halifax on the 24th July, with team member Ross Livingstone believing those who join them will be in for a fun-filled time.

“Tag rugby league is suitable for anyone to play, regardless of age, size and experience. The players we have currently representing the Huddersfield team clearly show this!” he said.

“Tackles are made by pulling off a Velcro tag which takes away the contact aspect of rugby league. The festivals have been a brilliant experience so far and great fun!”

To build on the Tag interest, the Giants, in partnership with Birchencliffe Cricket Club, the home of amateur RL club Lindley Swifts, host a Social Tag Rugby Evening every Thursday over the summer months from 7pm at a cost of £2 per player. All are welcome to attend.
