Huddersfield Giants' Shaun Lunt could miss just one Super League XVIII game.

The 26-year-old in-form hooker had to be helped off the field after suffering a second-half ankle injury during his side’s 44-24 Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat at Warrington Wolves.

But initial checks have revealed the damage isn’t as bad as first feared, and he is expected to be available for the home Super League clash against Salford on Sunday, August 4.

And with the Challenge Cup semi-finals being played in a fortnight, it means Lunt could only miss next Sunday’s home Super League clash against Castleford Tigers.

“It did look bad at first, but the news is hopeful,” said Anderson.

“He suffered a slight roll of the ankle, which means he’ll miss next week, but he should be okay for our next League game.

"That’s one of the few positives to come out this weekend!”

Warrington coach Tony Smith hailed a top all-round performance from his side as they edged closer to a fourth Wembley appearance in five years.

“It was a good performance all round,” Smith said. “I thought our defence was outstanding right from the off and we showed some good skill and scored some really good tries.

“We knew Huddersfield would have a real shot at it and we had plenty of people tell us that too so it fuelled the fire.

“We did a pretty good job for most of it. There was a period when we got a bit sloppy but I like the way we responded.

“We were on the back of an 8-2 penalty count and that’s a big issue for us but, to be able to handle that and come back strong, showed some character.”

Former Huddersfield captain Brett Hodgson was once more the scourge of his old club as he recovered from a head knock to play a key role in the victory, as well as kicking six goals.

“It was one of his best games this year,” Smith said. “He was terrific at the back.”
