Huddersfield Giants have signed 19-year-old prop forward Mick Learmonth to a one-year Super League contract for 2015.

A top graduate from the Academy, he will move into the full-time environment for the start of pre-season.

Giants managing director Richard Thewlis confirmed: “Mick Learmonth will join Liam Johnson and Tyler Dickinson in going forward to the Super League squad.

“He caught the eye of Paul Anderson very early and, while he is currently out injured it has been clear for all to see that he is a player of great potential.

“He has led the forward line with real determination and shown the grit and desire to take the opportunity that we gave him at the start of the year, for which he now reaps the reward of a further year training full-time with the top squad.

“The reality for him is very likely to be time out on dual registration or loan next year which we believe to be an excellent development pathway.

“Mick’s retention and promotion again demonstrates to all our younger players the clear pathway that exists here to the full time environment.”

Coach Anderson is getting his senior squad ready for Sunday’s clash with Hull FC at the John Smith’s Stadium, when he wants a solid performance.
