Hi, it’s Eorl here.

Well, I’m afraid we’re all in pretty boring mood at the moment.

Training this week hasn’t exactly been a bundle of laughs. In fact, it’s been hell!

Not that I expect that’ll come as too much of a surprise to anyone.

After two bitterly-disappointing performances and defeats, everyone’s keeping their heads down and working harder than ever to put things right.

Take it from me, those last two results have hit us incredibly hard.

After lifting the Super League Leaders’ Shield last year and then spilling blood, sweat and tears during another hugely demanding pre-season that began last November, everyone was confident of kicking-on at the start of 2014.

But it’s obviously not worked out how we would have wished, and we’re now in the process of trying to do something about it.

And to say we’re desperate to achieve that objective would be a massive understatement.

I suppose it’s an obvious thing to say, but no-one loses on purpose, particularly when it’s your livelihood and the stakes for failure can be so high.

Yet even though we are doing it so tough at the moment, I still believe the attitude in general throughout the club is far too negative.

Although we don’t like losing, we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that we’ve only lost a couple of games and there’s so much of the season still to play.

At the start of this year, we’ve already had a number of injuries to key players, been on the end of some pretty tough refereeing calls and not had the bounce of the ball at all. On top of that, we’ve not been playing well, either.

They say that by the end of the season, things do even themselves out and the status quo is restored. If that’s the case for us, then watch out for an unbelievable end to our season!

That’s why I think it really is a case of everyone sticking together, and in this I include our fantastic supporters, as well as the Giants’ players, coaching staff and backroom staff.

We obviously host St Helens tomorrow in what promises to be a cracking Challenge Cup tie, and many are predicting they’ll go on and complete a League and Cup double under our former coach, Nathan Brown, this year.

And what a contrast is to last summer!

Everything was going wrong for Browny in his first season in charge, with Saints apparently in freefall.

But everyone at Langtree Park stuck together and the club are now reaping their rewards, having won their opening seven League games so far this season.
