Leroy Cudjoe believes the pain of missing out on the weekend’s Challenge Cup action could provide the Giants with an extra source of motivation going into Sunday’s home Super League clash against high-flying Castleford Tigers.

Due to Huddersfield’s controversial fourth-round defeat at the hands of St Helens, last season’ stable-toppers had last weekend off.

But England centre Cudjoe knows it could prove a blessing in disguises against the Tigers on Sunday.

“It’s been hard having the weekend off, because everyone loves to play,” said Cudjoe.

“And it made it even harder because of the nature of the way we went out of the Challenge Cup, which is still disappointing.

But hopefully we will benefit from it.

“As well as using the frustration we felt at not playing, it gives us a break after just playing four games in two weeks.

“It will allow us to work on some things that will improve our game and also keep us fresh ready for what’s a massive game against an in-form Castleford team come Sunday.

“We had a tough session last Thursday, then had the weekend off. So everyone felt fresh and ready when we got back in on Monday and looking forward to preparing for Cas.”
