HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS full back Scott Grix has been left out of Ireland’s squad for their European Federation Test clash with Wales today.

The 27-year-old, who was captain of the Ireland squad for the 2008 World Cup, has been omitted as he attempts to overcome a couple of injury problems.

Grix (pictured) struggled through the second half of the Super League season carrying a shoulder injury sustained in June and is also having treatment for a groin problem.

Former Giant Gregg McNally, who was released by the club at the end of the Super League campaign, is included at scrum half by Ireland coach Mark Aston for the international against the Welsh in Neath.

Aston has also recalled Leeds prop Luke Ambler, who spent the 2011 Super League season on loan to Harlequins, and he takes the place of Wakefield front rower Kyle Amor, who will lead Cumbria in their match against England Knights at Whitehaven.
